This episode marks the 10th Anniversary of the Developments of Excellence Awards, which are presented to recognize developments in the metro region that exemplify cutting-edge, livable designs. The show looks back over the past decade and celebrates the winning developments that, when taken together, have had a positive impact on the Atlanta region.
“The past 10 years have been a watershed decade in the way metro Atlanta has grown,” said ARC Chairman, Sam Olens. “Ten years ago, few developers were putting residential units within walking distance of activity and town centers. Now, metro Atlantans seek villages and urban style environments that enable them to reduce their dependency on cars and where they can live, work and play in the same area.”

This show looks at an ambitious two-year ARC visioning and planning effort that will explore possible future scenarios for Metro Atlanta and develop a 50-year action plan to ensure future livability, prosperity and sustainability. Each forum will attempt to answer these questions by presenting a nationally or globally recognized authority on a specific trend, issue or policy area. Our guests on the show include Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, ARC Chairman Sam Olens and Seattle-based futurist Glen Hiemstra.
