Regional Planning
As the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Atlanta region, the Atlanta Regional Commission is tasked with planning and promoting improved transportation. One key principle is to create a balance of transportation options using a multimodal approach. Bicycle and pedestrian transportation is an important and often underutilized option in the Atlanta area. Through the Atlanta Region Bicycle Transportation and Pedestrian Walkways Plan, Bicycle & Pedestrian Task Force, various workshops and other planning activities, ARC strives to improve these modes of travel.
This Toolkit is designed to aid local jurisdictions, and the public, in understanding the value of planning for bicycle and pedestrian transportation, as well as, how to best implement and fund high quality projects.
