Technology Feasibility Study
In early 2007, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) was awarded a $400,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to bridge these two initiatives and coordinate Human Services Transportation (HST) by utilizing a new level of integrated technology in the region. The grant will support ARC’s efforts to develop a Human Services Transportation Management Coordination Center (TMCC) that will provide information on what services currently exist; provide route planning assistance; improve reservation making; coordinate service delivery; “real-time” travel information and client screening; and provide matching and education programs for the region’s transportation disadvantaged. The grant also will allow ARC to build on an initial draft coordinated HST plan developed in February 2007, and will create a more comprehensive and technologically advanced regional framework for service delivery. The study began in June 2007 and is scheduled for completion in July 2008.
In order to maximize the potential for input, feedback, and partnership formation, coordination efforts with the various human service agencies, providers, and users that comprise the HST community will be structured through two committees: a Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) and a Technical Stakeholder Committee (TSC).
