What types of planning assistance does the Community Choices team provide for its select cities?
Planning assistance offered through Community Choices ranges from the creation of overlay ordinances and design guidelines to carrying out quality growth audits or studies on issues relevant to the aging population. When are applications accepted for the Community Choices Program?
Applications are usually distributed in February of each year; selections are made by late March. For an application, see the

What is the difference between LINK and RLI?
LINK (Leadership, Involvement, Networking & Knowledge) is a cross-sector, cross-county leadership exchange that brings together the region’s most influential leaders to learn how metropolitan areas throughout the country are addressing the same issues and challenges we face in the Atlanta region. This is an invitation only leadership program.
RLI (Regional Leadership Institute) is designed to provide a unique learning experience for emerging and existing leaders through an intensive one-week program that trains, empowers and supports leaders so they can effect positive community change in the region. This program requires participants to go through an application and selection process.
What is the difference between LGTI and CPA?
The Local Government Training Institute (LGTI) is a series of professional development training opportunities for city and county employees. Classes help increase effectiveness and re-energize and enhance job skills. Each semester, LGTI offers classes that are taught by top-notch instructors from various state and national organizations with reasonably-priced registration fees.
The Community Planning Academy (CPA) seeks to educate local elected and appointed officials on planning-related matters. Some of the courses being taught this semester are on green initiatives in communities across Georgia, Intro to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and a three-day training course for planning officials.
