Community & In-Home Support

Keeping older adults in the community as they become frailer is the goal of many programs offered through the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). Community-based care is often less expensive than care in a facility drawing on the older person’s network of friends and family for informal support. Community-based care also lessens the likelihood that the older person will experience depression. Experienced counselors with AgeWise Connection can help older adults and caregivers with questions about available services.

For individuals who are on Medicaid or who are Medicaid-eligible, there are two programs designed specifically to help older adults remain in the community: Community Care Services Program (CCSP) and Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE).  For those who are not currently Medicaid-eligible there is Support Options, a new demonstration program.
